PetroChina Fushun Petrochemical Company is a large‑scale refining‑chemical integrated branch under PetroChina Company Limited (CNPC Group), located in Fushun City, Liaoning Province, Northeast China. Tracing its origin back to a refinery constructed in 1928, the enterprise is widely known as "the cradle of China’s petroleum refining industry". After multiple rounds of restructuring and capacity expansion, it completed the “10‑million‑ton refinery, 1‑million‑ton ethylene” key national project in 2012, forming comprehensive crude oil processing capacity of 11.5 million tons per year and chemical production capacity of 1.84 million tons per year, operating more than 70 main production units. It holds global‑leading industrial status: the world’s largest production and export base for paraffin wax, Asia’s dominant manufacturing base for linear alkyl benzene (LAB, surfactant raw material), as well as China’s core production site for precious‑metal catalysts. The company runs a complete "oil‑refining‑chemical‑plastic‑detergent‑wax‑agent" industrial chain, manufacturing over 300 grades of petrochemical products under the "Kunlun brand". Its product portfolio covers refined oil products including gasoline, jet fuel and diesel; polyolefin materials such as PP, HDPE and LLDPE; SBR synthetic rubber; full‑range paraffin series (semi‑refined paraffin wax, fully‑refined paraffin wax, crude paraffin wax); microcrystalline wax, linear alkyl benzene and lubricant base oils. On April 21, 2026, Fushun Petrochemical Company successfully completed carbon footprint accounting for its microcrystalline wax and alkylbenzene products. This marked the company's first-ever carbon footprint assessment for these products, effectively filling a gap in the Group's accounting methodologies and standards for microcrystalline wax and alkylbenzene. It laid a solid foundation for enhancing export competitiveness and establishing a domestic carbon footprint factor database for petrochemical products. Adhering to the green and low-carbon development philosophy of "carbon reduction at the source, during the process, and through clean alternatives," Fushun Petrochemical has coordinated efforts to reduce carbon emissions and pollution, expand green initiatives, and foster growth. During the accounting process, the company collaborated closely with the Group's Safety and Environmental Protection Technology Research Institute to conduct multiple rounds of data review and technical verification. By strictly managing the entire accounting workflow, the company ensured that the results were scientific, accurate, authentic, and valid, leading to the successful completion of the project. Fushun Petrochemical’s Microcrystalline Wax Reaches Advanced International Quality Standards
On November 20, 2025, Fushun Petrochemical announced that its microcrystalline wax had successfully obtained EU REACH certification. This achievement signifies that the quality of the company's microcrystalline wax has reached an advanced international level. Leveraging advanced production technology and a rigorous quality control system, Fushun Petrochemical has continuously optimized the performance of its microcrystalline wax. The product features a pure white color, a high melting point, and excellent adhesion and ductility; it remains resistant to brittleness even at low temperatures, making it a premium raw material for industries such as cosmetics, food packaging, and pharmaceuticals. Previously, domestic production of microcrystalline wax was limited, resulting in a long-term reliance on imports. Recognizing the market opportunity, Fushun Petrochemical proactively launched its microcrystalline wax production project. In the first half of 2024, the company commissioned a paraffin hydrogenation unit (200,000-ton annual capacity) and a bright stock hydrogenation unit (100,000-ton annual capacity). These facilities successfully produced "Grade 80" microcrystalline wax, achieving an annual production capacity of 73,000 tons. This milestone established Fushun Petrochemical as the only domestic enterprise capable of producing a full range of paraffin wax, mixed-crystal wax, microcrystalline wax, and bright stock products. The company’s paraffin products have won over ten "China Famous Brand" awards, and the product pass rate stands at 100%. Its paraffin products have secured international trademark registrations in regions including Europe, the United States, and India, and have obtained FDA inspection-exemption status in the international market, with annual exports to Europe and the US exceeding 200,000 tons. Moving forward, Fushun Petrochemical intends to use this certification as a springboard to further increase R&D investment, enhance product quality, and expand its international market share.
